MYRIAD

Born of a deep love for Vocal a capella music, Bonnie Smith, Kirsty Morphett and Carlie Mills came together to create original music made with just three voices, percussion and body & vocal percussion.

Inspired by their teachers, Voice Masters Bobby McFerrin and Rhiannon, these three women draw on inspiration from a variety of styles, such as Soul, Jazz, Gospel, RnB, an eclectic World Music palette, combined with freestyle live Vocal Improvisation.

 

It is music of the moment- tuning into a place, an audience, a feeling, and launching into the deep end.

 

The emphasis is on intricate rhythms & grooves and lush, soaring vocal harmonies- bathing each audience in an aural feast. With a strong element of audience participation, each performance is unique to the event and to  the moment. Live sets include original compositions, live improvisations as well as a few sweet and tasty covers ranging from Gospel, Pop, Latin Jazz - even some MJ!!

 

MYRIAD is music to make the spirit soar, the heart open, the mind relax and the soul jump for joy.

 

The group have performed at a variety of Venues and festivals across Melbourne, including CERES Harvest Festival main stage, Open studio, The Thornbury Local, The TRUE EARTH market and the Labyrinth event at  Northcote Uniting Church.
